Convalescence

Slowly, slowly

One step at a time

You haven’t been on your feet for quite a while

Calm and steady

Give yourself a break

Your heart wants to run but you’re barely awake

You will triumph

I know that you will

But just take it easy, you’re delicate still

Clock is ticking

But don’t count the time

What matters the most is that you know you’re fine

Faster, stronger

Is what you’ll become

When everything’s healed and your sentence is done

Victory waits

You don’t need to rush

For now, just an amble is more than enough

  1. Hi Joanna,
    I live in California also.
I loved your poem. I like the part when you said you are awake. It implied in your dreams you were stronger than you really are. The poem gave hope that you will have a full recovery. A wonderful optimistic end.
I met you at Jasons meet and greet. I came to meet and greet you.
Maybe you can check out my blog if you need any blogging Tips. That’s what I write about. I also host six blogging events each month where you could meet new readers. I also host blog parties like Jason.
